As evening falls, gather around a lakeside bonfire to witness the sky ablaze with color. With its laid-back vibe and opportunities for adventure, Lake Conroe invites you to make memories!

Houston: a booming city with lots of culture. I decided to make it a long weekend and enjoy some of the local water spots. I did some research ahead of my trip and was excited to visit Lake Conroe after visiting their website. It was beautiful this time of year. The cool days, a little rain, and some small breezes. Who doesn’t enjoy this ideal winter weather?

I decided to go to Margaritaville Lake Resort. Not many people, it was quiet but pretty. Near the resort there is a golf course, lakeside cabins, and a fun waterpark. The water was cold this time of year, so it did not make for ideal swimming conditions. With a number of cafes, bars, and restaurants, there are plenty of dining options.

While I understand the season had much to do with the lack of activity on the lake, I was surprised to find no one on the lake. The advertised hiking trails and water sport activities were hard to find. I found that Lake Conroe was much more commercial than I expected with many residences taking advantage of the lakefront. While all of the activities on the website might be there, they are not easy to find.

The homes of Lake Conroe created a yearning for exploration within me. The homes were beautiful! I could imagine spending my mornings in awe of the amazing sunrises and begrudging the fact that I would have to go to work if I lived here! So, until I retire, I will yearn to return here for vacation. Perhaps one of these homes is set up for a vacation rental.

If you find you or your family traveling to Houston, Texas anytime soon, add Lake Conroe to your stops. Whether you’re visiting for a couple of hours or just one night, I believe you will have plenty to see and do.  Take a look online, book your activities ahead of time, get addresses to each water sport activity and enjoy the water!! Margaritaville Lake Resort looked like an AMAZING summer vacation destination for the whole family!
